Natural Phenomena : Sun Halo

 

 I'm gonna tell you about one of natural Phenomena which is Sun Halo. Halo is the name for a family of optic phenomena produced by sunlight that interacting with ice crystal suspended in the atmosphere. Halos can have many forms, ranging from colored or white rings to arcs and spots in the sky. Many of these appear near the sun or moon, but others occur elsewhere or even in the opposite part of the sky. Among the best known halo types are the circular halo (properly called the 22 degree halo, light pillars , and sun dogs , but many others occur; some are fairly common while others are (extremely) rare. 

The ice crystals responsible for halos are typically suspended in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds in the upper troposphere (5–10 km (3.1–6.2 mi)), but in cold weather they can also float near the ground, in which case they are referred to as diamond dust. The particular shape and orientation of the crystals are responsible for the type of halo observed. Light is reflected and refracted by the ice crystals and may split into colors because of dispersion. The crystals behave like prisms and mirrors, refracting and reflecting light between their faces, sending shafts of light in particular directions.
Atmospheric optical phenomena like halos were used as part of weather lore, which was an empirical means of weather forecasting before meteorology was developed. They often do indicate that rain will fall within the next 24 hours, since the cirrostratus clouds that cause them can signify an approaching frontal system. 

HISTORY
 While Aristotle had mentioned halos and parhelia, in antiquity, the first European descriptions of complex displays were those of Christoph Scheiner in Rome (circa 1630), Hevelius in Danzig (1661), and Tobias Lowitz in St Petersburg (c. 1794). Chinese observers had recorded these for centuries, the first reference being a section of the "Official History of the Chin Dynasty" (Chin Shu) in 637, on the "Ten Haloes", giving technical terms for 26 solar halo phenomena.

Vädersolstavlan

While mostly known and often quoted for being the oldest color depiction of the city of Stockholm, Vädersolstavlan (Swedish; "The Sundog Painting", literally "The Weather Sun Painting") is arguably also one of the oldest known depictions of a halo display, including a pair of sun dogs. For two hours in the morning of 20 April 1535, the skies over the city were filled with white circles and arcs crossing the sky, while additional suns (i.e., sun dogs) appeared around the sun.

I wrote this letter on behalf of Alexa Riecantik as a student of SMA Negeri 3 Bandung. Responding to the Medical scholarship Programs 2019 you offer for the best student in Asia who have good character. She is 16 years old and She is a perfectionist person and a neat person. 
Alexa is a kind person and she always prioritize her work/school first that the other things. She is always do her work as soon as possible and as fast as she can, even though she works his task in a fast way, the quality of her task is very good. She is also a neat person. She is always tidy her things perfectly and her writing is so good and neat that's why her work always be the best one. 

She has an ability to memorize well and specially biology. Because of that she always got a good grades in all of the subject. In her leisure time, She always does her homework first, and collect the homework on time. If She doesn't have homework to do, She use that time for study and repeat the lesson at school again.

In my conclusion, Alexa is a diliigent person and always try to do the best for her work. She has a really big dream that i hope she will reach it one day. Through this scholarship i hope it leads her into her dream. I know her really well for this 2 years straight that's why
recommended her because i believe that she will make a good impact for your school and she will not be dissapointed.

Tur Budaya 2019

On 17th of March until 21th of March me and my friends went to Bali by plane. So in the first day we went to Husein Sastranegara early in the morning. Our plane departed at 1.35 PM. I sit on the plane with Alexa and Daffa. We bought a hot tea but all of the sudden I spill the tea and it's really hot.We also share a bread and a free meal. We arrived at the airport ngurah rai bali around 4.30 WITA. After that I took the suitcase and headed to the bus number 3. The bus is depend on what class we are. First destnation that we should visit is Tanah lot, but it's too late to arrive. So we just headed to Jimbaran to had a dinner. The first thing that we did after arriving is took a photo then we had a dinner. But unfortunately  the rain fell. We went straight to the bus and went to the hotel to had a rest. 

On the second day we start the morning with breakfast at the hotel. The first destination of the day is Tanjung Benoa and we did watersport. I tried donut boat and banana boat with Alexa, Kinanti, Imala, Daffa, Radit , and Sultan.It's really fun by the way. The second destination is Pandawa beach. We only took a photo than head back to the bus because the weather is very hot and I don't want to got sun burn. The third destination is GWK. GWK is Garuda Wisnu Kencana and we went there only for took a picture with the whole student. After that we saw the Devdan Show which tell a story about the etnics from Sabang to Merauke which is really fascinating. Then we had rest at the hotel. 

 

On the third day in Bali as usual we began with eating breakfast. The first destination we visited Tirta Empul. Tirta Empul is a holy spring and a sacred place. Because that day I got a period so I can't visited the place inside so I waited outside and headed to the bus after that. The second destination is Kintamani. Kintamani is a highland in Bali. We went to Kintamani for a lunch. It's kinda all you can eat buffet and it's really delicious. Actually we are presented with beautiful mountain views and the weather is very cold. After that the journey continued to Panglipuran village.Panglipuran is one of the famous village in Bali because the village is really clean and neat, but unfortunately after we arrived for 15 minutes, it began to rain so we run to the bus and went back to the hotel to prepare our makrab la boheme at Nirmala Ballroom Hotel. We dress hippie, sing, play together and there are many doorprizes given, namely shopping vouchers, up to smartphones.

 

On the fourth day as usual begins with breakfast at the hotel. That day is the last day we were in Bali. It's kinda sad and we were checking out early in the morning. Then we headed to Kuta. Me and the others went to Deus shop by the way. After that I returned to the bus and shop for souvenirs in Krishna and had lunch. After that because we have not yet been to tanah lot, we took the time go there, on the tanah lot and the weather is super hot. The last destination is Bedugul. After that we continued the journey back to Bandung, crossing using a ship from Gilimanuk port to Ketapang port on midnight and went to Gubeng train station and headed home.

EDU PASSION 2019

At 24th january 2019 I visited one of my school program that held every year called “Edu Passion”.  If you wondering what is Edu Passion, is an event that invited many universities and showed presentation about many major from many universities. Beside university, there are also a a lot of education course such as english, subject course, and many languange. That day I saw a presentation from 2 different major which are Pharmacy and FTSL ITB. I feel so interested to both of major. Beside presentation, I also visited a sharing booth. From edu passion I gain so much information and I feel so lucky that my school held this event. Also that day I did an interview with several university’s booth about their own activities and program. I hope I can join next year Edu Passion too.
